Bay Church of Christ

ďThe Churches of Christ Salute YouĒ (Romans 16:16)

About Us

We are a group of Christians who have no desire to be called by any other religious name.  We are Christians and Christians only, recognizing that salvation is only in the name of Christ (Acts 4:10-12).  We have ultimate respect for God's Holy Word and have no desire for any other creed.  The Scriptures provide all we need to be exaclty what God would have use to be (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

Our worship is done in a way that is "decent and in order" (1 Corinthians 14:40) and consists of the acts of worship described in the New Testament and in the manner they are described.

Preaching/Teaching/Studying: 2 Timothy 4:2; Acts 20:7.† The church that Jesus built has no man-written creed, by-laws, or anything of that nature.† Only the Word of God has authority for what we do (Colossians 3:17), so that is what we preach and teach.

Prayer: 1 Timothy 2:8.† Faithful men take the lead in the services.† Prayers are offered only to the Father through Jesus as the Word of God instructs: Matthew 6:9; 1 Timothy 2:5; Ephesians 5:20.

Lordís Supper: 1 Corinthians 11:23-26.† This is a remembrance of Christís death.† Though the bread and fruit of the vine will be passed among the people gathered, the partaking of the Lordís Supper is for members of the church.† We will not ask our visitors to participate.† The Lordís Supper is observed every first day of the week, and only on the first day of the week, as the New Testament example illustrates (Acts 20:7).

Singing: Hebrews 13:15; Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16.† We sing songs that are in accordance with the Scriptures.† As the referenced verses indicate, we are teaching with our singing.† Also, the Scriptures do not command or authorize instruments being used with the singing; neither is there any example of the New Testament church using them, therefore, you will not hear them in our worship assembly.

Giving: 2 Corinthians 9:7.† This is a free will offering.† We do not find the New Testament church tithing, so we do not tithe.† Rather, we take up a free will offering every first day of the week, and only on the first day of the week, as the New Testament example illustrates (1 Corinthians 16:1-2).† Like the Lordís Supper, this, too, is only for members of the church.† We do not expect our visitors to participate and we will never ask them for money.

If you have questions about these or other Bible topics, please ask.† We would love to hear from you and desire to give Bible answers to Bible questions.
